Robert Weiss, LCSW, CSAT

Robert Weiss LCSW, CSAT is founder and Executive Director of The Sexual Recovery Institute, an outpatient Sexual Addiction and Sexual Offender treatment program in Los Angeles and Director of Program Development at The Life Healing Center –a residential treatment program in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mr. Weiss is co-author of Untangling the Web: Sex, Porn and Fantasy Addiction in the Internet Age (Alyson Books 2006), author of Cruise Control: Understanding Sex Addiction in Gay Men (Alyson Books 2005) and co-author of Cybersex Exposed (Hazelden books 2002). He has also authored numerous professional articles and chapters and writes the monthly mental health column for Gay.com. A UCLA clinical social work graduate, Mr. Weiss obtained post-graduate sexual addiction training under the direction of Dr. Patrick Carnes, author and leader in the field of sexual addiction. Mr. Weiss has presented for The UCLA Neuro-Psychiatric Institute, The American Association of Sex Educators and Therapists The National Association of Social Work, The US Navy and The US Army among many others. He is a former board member of The National Council on Sexual Addiction and current editorial board member of their professional journal. In 2006, Mr. Weiss was honoured by being invited to present at The National Institutes of Health by their gay and lesbian caucus and in 2007 The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Psychotherapy Association presented him with their annual Community Services award. A few of Mr. Weiss’ recent media appearances include: Larry King Live, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, NBC’s To Catch a Predator and CNN’s Headline News. In a field with very few recognized experts, Mr. Weiss is an experienced, effective therapist, author, speaker and professional trainer in the assessment and treatment of persons with behavioral addictive disorders.
