Naya Arbiter

    Naya Arbiter has been associated with Amity Foundation since l981. She is the principal of Extensions, a private consulting and training group. Recognized for her ability to develop and implement new restorative paradigms and practices for marginalized populations, she is a featured speaker at national and international conferences. Many of her efforts in prison and the free world have evidenced some of the highest recidivism reductions in the U.S. Ms. Arbiter developed her first women’s project in 1972. She authored 14 volumes of curriculum for personal restoration, emotional literacy, moral development and leadership. Three of these have been translated into Japanese for use with the incarcerated in Japan. As Amity's representative, she has served as a witness for policy change testimony on both federal and state levels, on the Inter-American Commission for Drug Policy, as Vice-President of Therapeutic Communities of America and as Chair of the Standards and Goals Committee for the World Federation of Therapeutic Communities. She was chosen by President Reagan as one of 125 National experts to serve as a conferee for the White House Conference for a Drug Free America, and worked extensively with the National Commission for model State Drug Laws. She severed on numerous scientific advisory boards, including that of the National Treatment Improvement Evaluation Study. Her primary interest is her continued involvement in direct service.
