“For the first time in my adult life, I am celebrating 30 days of being truly sober”: a statement of hope for a new life story described by a recent resident of Clearwood. Clearwood is a new residential extended-care program for individuals struggling with addictive disorders. Our primary emphasis is on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)/trauma treatment. Research has shown that 30 days of primary treatment for these individuals is not sufficient for a lasting recovery foundation.

Clearwood is a clinically intensive, full-spectrum, 90-day addictions treatment program. The program was developed in consultation with renowned psychologist, Dr. Don Meichenbaum, and incorporates the best practices currently available in the traditional addictions field, while incorporating a primary specialty in PTSD/trauma-focused care.

Our multi-disciplinary, highly trained team includes physicians, psychologists, Master’s-level therapists, family therapists, nurses, an activity coordinator and clinical care staff.

Clearwood’s 12-step recovery-based program incorporates a number of modalities and initiatives including: addictive disorders; PTSD/trauma; individual and group therapy; co-dependency; chronic relapse; spiritual discovery; exercise/wellness; yoga/meditation; smoking cessation; and ancillary spa services.

The Clearwood program is located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, a city that combines urban sophistication with small-town warmth. Grand Rapids is quite culturally diverse and known for being a recovery-supportive community. Despite its size, Grand Rapids prides itself on small-town virtues, such as friendly neighborhoods, safe streets, minimal traffic and Midwestern values.
Each resident of the program can enjoy an intimate 20-bed setting, with their own private room and restroom; meals catered by a local chef; two community living areas; a dining area both inside and outside the facility; a health and fitness room; and a spa service room.

A clear asset that makes the Clearwood program unique is the way in which it functions as a division of Pine Rest — one of the five largest free-standing providers of behavioral health services in the United States.
