I am a recovering addict, in school getting my associates in Chemical Dependency and Mental Health. Iam doing a speech on chemical dependecy, and the topics I choose are denail / consequences. I came across this article and would like to know more about this. Doing another speech and I think it will be on this program. Is any research involed in this program, if so I would like to know where I can find it. Maybe you all could send me some literature.

Just an update about Solano Prison. In the past two months I have reviewed five Relapse Prevention Counseling Certification portfolios from this group of men at Solano Prison. They are now Certified Relapse Prevention Specialists (CRPS) through the Gorski-CENAPS Corporation. The new Criminal Offender High Risk Situation List Pamphlet is also now published and it is going to help many incarcerated chemically dependent offenders get and stay clean and sober.

Frank,
It was not my intention to lead people to believe all inmates receive programs or training. The reason I'm so excited about this is because it is so unusual. I was told that Solano State Prison is planning to repeat this project next year. We can either sit back and complain or get into action. I know I will. I want people to know what is possible. Please don't give up.

This article would lead readers to believe all inmates receive substance abuse programs and training. In truth only a tiny fraction ever received substance abuse programs. Lifers are not eligible for SAP programs. The CDCr just cut these programs and will not fund them any longer. This story is not what happens in California state prisons. Many prisons no longer have any type of SAP programs. This is feel good propaganda and is NOT the reality of California prisons! The reality is the prisons are loaded with drugs and there is no treatment!

Steve, this a great article! Thanks for sharing about the program. Programs like this are sorely needed.

So need to provide a 12 Step Paradigm for Wounded Warriors Incarcerated; i.e.,
Admit we are powerless over PTSD..."
Blessings beyond words as we raise funds for an employee owned worker cooperative Veterans Village in partnership with our Veteran Courts springing up around the country
