‘Writer’s In Treatment’, Tuesday Night Addiction Movie Series
Written By: Jean Mackie, BA, CADC, BRI, CCJP, RTC Date: May 27th, 2009. Topic: Member Blogs.I am both happy and sad regarding the Tuesday night addiction movie series offered this past eight weeks by the Writer’s In Treatment. Happy to have been a sponsor and supporter of the event because it was so fulfilling to be a part of a live audience while viewing these mood effecting films, and sad because the time has ended to see such challenging stories and be able to gain from the experience of seeing them with so many people in recovery.
I can honestly say that I had only seen one of the movies prior and all others were definitely on my list of must sees. Being an interventionist my schedule rarely lends itself to all this free time for movies, and I have to admit if I’m going to choose one to watch it’s probably going to be more lighter fare if you know what I mean…. so this was a win-win situation for me.
It was an awesome experience to watch these stories with so many people who knew all too well the old way of being that just wasn’t working for us, and observe in others through recovery eyes the insane battle of hanging on to what we thought was once living.
VERY COOL… VERY WORTH IT…. VERY WORTH REMEMBERING.
