Relapse Prevention

Written By: Date: May 14th, 2009. Topic: Member Blogs.

I am excited to announce that I have begun a full time affiliation with Challenges, a treatment program in Fort Lauderdale, FL ( www.challenges-program.com ). I will continue in my role as President and founder of the CENAPS Corporation ( www.cenaps.com ) and will, of course continue to speak at conference and conduct advanced clinical skills training programs.

Challenges, however, gives me the unique opportunity to have a clinical home-base that allows me to directly become involved with recovering clients, their therapists, and the community resources needed to support their long term recovery.  Challenges specializes in Relapse Prevention for addiction. What makes this program so unique it that they also admit addicts with coexisting mental health problems and have been having success in using relapse prevention methods with many of these clients.

This new clinical affiliation will put me in direct contact with the patients, their families, and the therapy team allowing me to improve and further develop the CENAPS Model of Relapse Prevention to meet the needs of people suffering from coexisting disorders that contribute to their relapse.

The Challenges Relapse prevention Program for coexisting disorders is based upon the principles of the 12-Step Program coupled with addiction specific cognitive restructuring and symptom management for the specific symptoms of coexisting mental health disorders that interfere with treatment.
